Nothing can shake our confidence quite like the realization that our hairlines aren’t as thick as they once were. Even a well-executed outfit can’t entirely compensate for unintentional hair loss, right gentlemen? If you’ve noticed your hairline thinning or receding, you might think you’re on track to losing your hair, but don’t sweat. Odds are, you haven’t exhausted all your efforts.
Balding at the hairline is something we often get asked about within our online community and we’re to tell youfour easy-to-miss factors that are causing your hairline to thin.As always we’re not here to simply tell you the dos and don’ts of hair growth. It’s our mission at Evan Alexander Grooming) to equip you with essential grooming know-how so that you feel empowered on your haircare (and self-care) journeys.
Let’s get into it.
Avoid These To Restore Your Frontal Hairline:
Regular line-ups from your barber
Continual line-ups are a surefire way to stunt growth around your hairline and here’s why. Any time you take a razor blade to the skin in order to create that sharp edge, you’re essentially cutting into the surface of the skin and exposing your hair follicles. Damaged hair follicles = hair loss. That said, there are a lot of skilled barbers who may have a workaround to this problem, but if hair loss is an issue for you, it’s important to understand how regular line-ups factor into this.
Another note while we’re on the topic of line-ups. Often, they’re followed up by applying alcohol to the area, which further compounds the situation bydehydrating the hair follicles and damaging the capillaries. Since capillaries are responsible for delivering nutrients to your scalp, this has an adverse effect on hair growth. Easy solution? Bring witch hazel with you to your hair appointment. Witch hazel is a great alternative to alcohol without the adverse effects.
The Wrong Products
Many hair products in today’s marketplace containharsh, synthetic ingredientswhich are toxic not only for your hair, but also for your body and the environment. They may deliver quick results, but they’re not worth it in the long-run. This is why we’re so passionate about delivering thoughtfully-formulated hair products that fuse our appreciation for natural, raw ingredients without ever sacrificing quality and efficacy. We made these products for us, just as much as you. One of our favorites to combat hair loss isMY Hair Repair Serum, which contains champion ingredients like peppermint oil, stinging nettle, and hempseed oil, without harmful elements like parabens, sulfates, and drying alcohols.
Constant Hat Wearing
Listen, we’ve got nothing against a good hat — but if it’s tightly fitted and you’re wearing it day in and day out, we’re here to tell you that your favorite accessory is likely contributing to hair loss around your hairline. We know what you’re thinking. My hairline is receding and you expect me tonot throw on a hat? While a cover-up may seem like a sensible solution, tight headwear limits the oxygen and light which are necessary for scalp health. While you don’t have to throw out your hat collection altogether, it’s a good idea to give your scalp some air, vitamin D, and unrestricted blood flow.
Excessive Stress Levels
Alright, so this isn’t news to you, but it needs to be said anyways. Manage those stress levels! We all know that stress equals hair loss, but let’s break down why. Anytime you’re stressed, your blood vessels constrict, which means that blood (and all the good nutrients it carries throughout your body) is getting cut off from your scalp and hair follicles.
We get it — easier said than done. We like to start with a good grooming routine turned self-care ritual. While you’re washing, conditioning, and detoxing, take your time with it. Even a few minutes to yourself can drastically affect your state of mind. Self-care isn’t for ladies only.
There you have it. Avoid these common hair loss triggers and you’ll be well on your way to thickening your natural hairline.
