Cocamidopropyl BetaineA natural surfactant that can be used in organic formulations if it has been manufactured in an acceptable way, containing no 'synthetics'. Cocamidopropyl Betaine is always produced via a synthetic process although the coco and the betaine components are natural. It is used as a foam booster in shampoos and a medium strength surfactant also used in bath products like hand soaps. It is also used in cosmetics as an emulsifying agent and thickener, and to reduce irritation purely ionic surfactants would cause. |
